good news!

This past Tuesday was my last weekday off...I was offered full-time Wednesday afternoon!  Without hesitation I accepted, but then felt a little sad my last Tuesday of sewing was already over.  I'll still have evenings and weekends as well as a little extra money in my pocket, so it's all good.

To prove that I can still get things done without a Tuesday off, here's what I've accomplished since then:

1. Trim the geese.

I've never been one to trim, but it made a world of difference.

2. Sew geese (and other newly cut pieces) into stars.

They look even more spring-like as stars, but the blocks aren't finished yet!

3. Make half-square triangles as the next step for this quilt.

I trimmed these too!  This was today's (Saturday) step.  It's nice that Judy is giving small steps - it means I'm more likely to get things done before the next step is posted.  Of course, it also means I'll have time to clean the bathroom, a task I was hoping to put off a little longer!

For those of you who missed the link and the first post, I'm working on Judy L's January Quilts of Valor Quilt Along, a quilt she's named "Rolling Along."  The steps are sprinkled throughout her blog posts, but I believe she's also adding them to her "Patterns for Free" tab so you can catch up or make it another day.

I'm still plugging along on the owls.  I'll show them when I have a bit more done.

Happy quilting,
Katie

Yay for you! Job and quilting both seem to be humming along. Your stars look very cheery. I like the pattern Judy is sharing and I'm looking forward to seeing it in everybody's various fabric choices.

Those stars look just fantastic. The colors do look like spring. And like happy, if that makes any sense. Great progress.
Congrats on getting full time at work. (more $$$ for fabric) ;)

Yay! A full time job! Booo - no more sewing weekdays. I'm sure you'll still manage to get a lot of sewing done. Your stars are looking good! Thanks for the link - what a gorgeous quilt. Definitely pays to trim those geese and half square triangles. ann :-)

The little stars look so cute, like cotton candy! This quilt is going to be great! Congratulations on moving on to full time employment! That is great news, too. You seem so organized I don't think it will slow you down at all. More money is always a good thing!

I knew they would want you full time when they saw what a worker you are! Congrats! Your stars look great, and I agree with Ann that all that trimming will prove to be worth the time and effort! ---"Love"

Congratulations on getting full-time! YAY for you! And even though you won't have Tuesdays off to sew - I'm sure that you'll still get more done than the rest of us mere mortals - ;)) Great looking star blocks, by the way!

Congratulations on the job front! I have no doubt that even with your lost day off you will be just as productive as ever!

The quilt along looks great. As I expected, the 30s fabric is looking great. I like that you changed it up a little and made the star points in various colors and not just blue. Are you going to make the other red, white and blue blocks scrappy too? I can't wait to see it come together. I'm wishing I had taken on this quilt along too. Maybe next month!
