Haunting my dreams

I have odd dreams.  My hubby laughs at them.

A few nights ago, I dreamed this (or a version of it):

This is version 3.  1 and 2 were sewn on the machine, which I didn't like.  They also had stems and leaves like a flower, which looked like it was coming out of nowhere, so I also didn't like.

Not sure what I'll do with it.  I backed the white with lightweight fusible interfacing to help stabilize, but now it's wrinkly.  Any suggestions?  Different stabilizer maybe?  Did I iron it wrong (I lost the directions)?

It's big enough (though you don't see it here) that I may use it for a quilt label...  Maybe I'll make a lot of them and use them for all my quilt labels from now on.  But hand-stitching through the little bits was hard and I poked myself with pins.  Any thoughts on basting glue out there?  (I've only heard of it.)

It's driving the hubby nuts that I don't know what it is.  I think he thinks I'm lying.

I tried to use it up there with the name of my blog, but blogger wanted to make it about 12 inches square, so it was blurry and looked foolish.  Maybe one day I'll figure out how to make it small, but not today.

Not all my dreams are this creative.

Your creative mind even hums along at night, huh? Looks like a rainbow of color and certainly very cheerful. Try spray starching the white fabric and you may already have wonderful basting glue at home. Use Elmer's school glue to attach your patches and press with a dry iron; the glue washes away in the first wash. Sharon Schamber uses Elmers for applique and even for her quilt binding prior to stitching. Mary

Now you have my curiosity whirring too! I see a faint spiral; semblance to a color wheel (if the colors were rearranged a bit), but definitely an eye-catcher. If you use it as a label, would you write your text in the spiral area? I would think for a label you would want the colors tacked down somehow. You'll figure it out I'm sure! ---"Love"

Enjoy creativity wherever you can find it. I'm impressed you remembered enough of the dream to turn it into something concrete! My dreams dissipate into the fog as soon as I wake up. I think your creation would make a very cute quilt label. -Joanne

Whatever you decide it is, it is very cute! I think it would make a great quilt label, kind of your brand, maybe. It is really colorful and looks like a flower to me, or maybe the top view of an open umbrella, or a ferris wheel at the carnival.

I dream of quilts sometimes, although mostly just of what the next project will be or the next step in a project. I hate it when I wake up in the middle of the night, thinking quilts and I'm wide awake. Can't fall back to sleep for anything. Fortunately, that doesn't happen too often.

Hope you figure out what it is to you soon so it stops making you all nuts! ! !

Looks like a sun umbrella with chaise lounges around it. Maybe a quilter's stonehenge?

I was reading another lady's blog and a spiral is supposed to be connected to creativity. With all those colors you have with it, Maybe you are supposed to make a sprial patterned quilt with all the colors of the rainbow;)
I wake up with thoughts of quilt designs in my head. I remember some of them. Sometime's the solution to a design problem will arise.
It is said that those things that come to us in dreams in relation to creativity are those that should be listened to and followed up on.
Happy Quilting!!!

It will be interesting to see where you go with this. I think it's fantastic that designs come to you in your dreams! Ann :-)

Katie, I love "where you went" with this colorful "dream"; it's a real eye-catcher. (I saw your comment this morning on someone's blog.) That pretty little bright spot by your name is perfect! It puts a smile on my face, just knowing that I'm going to get to read something from you. I hope you will keep using it; it's a great identifier of YOU! *smile* ---"Love"

Somehow I missed this post. What a cool design!! I often have weird dreams, but usually they're work related (yuck!). I'm sure you'll find a way to incorporate it into your quilts. Send some quilting dream dust my way! :) Christine

I really like the elephant. I love football and was glad to see that New Orleans won. Maybe you could call him "Saint Patchwork". I also love the dolly cat quilt. My stepdaughter asked me to make my 2 yr old granddaughter a dolly quilt and pillow (which I posted, but it took me a long time to figure out these sites) I just think she's too little to put that much work into a dolly quilt. Well, maybe another one but keep it til she's a older. I really like everything you've gotten accomplished lately. Connie204
