two tops done!

It's been a bit of a journey and I'm about 8 blocks behind again, but I have the first two block challenge tops together!

Purchased:
blue for sashing and borders and back

Purchased:
white print for sashing and different green for back

My parents are going through the long, difficult task of cleaning out everything and throwing away a lot of things, but they're plugging away at it.  My mom's best machine was one of the first things to head to higher ground, her other two are being repaired.  My dad may have lost a new laptop (never even had the battery in!) and the water softener had to be replaced, but considering all the big appliances that were on the main floor that some might have had in a basement (like an extra freezer), I think they're pretty lucky.

Last night it was so nice, we had a cookout.  Last-minute, but the hubby's whole immediate family with all the kids were there and it was a ton of fun.

And I got my first s'more of the year!

Another beauty taken by my "smart" phone that apparently can adjust for taking photos at night all by itself, but thinks the GROUND is my target...after 3 of these I gave up.  I'm fairly certain you can still tell what it is...

Off to make the rest of dinner.

Happy quilting,
Katie

Oh wow! Your quilts look fantastic! Nice finish on both Katie. I'm really sorry that you folks have so much damaged equipment. I tried to make S'more a few years ago without Graham cracker, Hershey bars or jet puffed marshamallows. Needless to say it wasn't a success but we got the idea. Yum!

The tops are great! The work really pays off, doesn't it? So sorry to hear about the flooding at your parents' home. My sister lives near Chicago, and many people near her had their basements flooded. She had to work in the basement to keep the water from accumulating, so she didn't have any problems - other than being exhausted from the ordeal (her basement isn't carpeted or anything). Lots of her neighbors had lots of damage. We don't have basements here in TX, which I guess is sometimes an advantage.

Great quilts! For making up the blocks from scraps, they sure look well planned and pulled together. I think you're onto something with your system.

Mmmm, smores. Haven't had one here yet this year. Something to look forward to. Caramel cracks, too. You toast a Kraft caramel until it's soft and sandwich it between two Ritz crackers. Mmmm. Salty/sweet yumminess.

Glad the fallout from the flood is somewhat minimal, all things considered. Fun quilts;) And jealous of the smore thing;)
Happy Quilting!!
