mom's trunk show

Last night my mom had the honor of being my quilt group's "program" and brought literally a carload of quilt to share.  I thought you might like to see them, too!

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage because there's a lot of photos, but not too many words.  Sorry about the photo quality - light was poor and the holders were busy looking and my phone is not the world's best camera (it's S-L-O-W!).  But you get the idea.

Great Grandmother Kate's Fans
(made by my Great Grandmother - we think)

Plaid Baskets
(made from old plaid shirts BEFORE Bonnie Hunter)

Aunt Helen's Silk Purse
(pieces from Aunt Helen - she says it's put together wrong...)

Homes I Have Known
(each block named for a quilting friend)

Batik Strings
(one of many, many string quilts...)

Spiderweb Strings

Selvage Quilt
(a work in progress - please don't send me any more!)

30's Challenge
(remember mine?)

Dear Jane
(she's hand-quilting this...because she's a little crazy...runs in the family...)

Sweet Gum Leaves

Quilt Noveau
(also known as Matt's quilt and you can't see the bits of color very well - bad lighting)

30's Kitties
(from a book - if you want to know more, let me know and we'll go looking)

Sister's Quilt Show Block Challenge
(winning blocks are all in here!)

Fancy Dresden Plate
(her own pattern)

another Fancy Dresden Plate

yet another Fancy Dresden Plate

Fancy Dresden Plate?

Fancy Dresden plates made into a table runner

(the last) Fancy Dresden Plate
(she teaches this pattern and makes a new quilt for every class...)

Binky's Butterflies
(Asian fabrics - some actually from Japan!)

Lone Star
(made for brother, finished in about enough time for his oldest to take to college...)

Carolina Lily

Round Robin
(this one went all the way to Australia)

Bee Row-By-Row
(hers are the dresden plates)

Make Mine Chocolate
(remember my version?)

Floribunda
(online BOM - Erin Russek)

Vintage Halloween
(Crab Apple Cove Pattern)

Hawaiian Applique

Farmer's Wife
(can we show a photo of this one after all the hoopla of not using her pattern for a bloggy quilt along?)

Postage Stamp Baskets
(Bonnie Blue pattern)

Grandmother's Choice
(entirely hand pieced, kit swapped for weeds plants)

Pineapple

Lady of the Lake
(I remember this one hanging in pieces on the wall for a long time...)

Mini Sampler - 5" blocks
(hand pieced, but it's been so long she can't remember the name of the pattern!)

Ugly Stars
(every ugly fabric in the stash...at least what SHE thinks is ugly!)

Millennium Star Mystery Quilt
2000

What a Trip

Orca Bay with a Twist of Lime
(Bonnie Hunter mystery 2011)

Aunt Millie's Garden
(hand the honor of hanging in the AQS show this year, didn't win...fools)

Falling Leaves

Tribute to Dad
(stained glass quilt - my grandpa did a LOT of stained glass in his retired years)

What Was I Thinking
(I think some of you will probably remember this one!)

Moda BOM
(quilt made in 2012 as you can see, but pattern is older)

Rose Sampler Supreme in Purple
(it survived "the flood")

Basket Mania
(hand appliqued every single one of them...see, crazy...)

Hawaiian Shirts
(origami-folded fabrics - signature blocks for quilt retreat)

Southern Star
Bits and Pieces pattern
(appropriate name, no?)

And she's here standing next to me, waiting to use the longarm, so I guess I'd better get going.

Happy quilting,
Katie

Wow. A lot of quilts. From a non-quilter to a quilter - never knew there were so many possibilities. Feel like making me any of those? :)

Beautiful

Wow! What a grand collection. Tell her thanks for letting you share them with us. :D I love that she has a broad range of colors and styles. And I do know that I will *not* be hand-quilting my Jane when I finish it! My hat's off to her on that!!

What a show! What a great collection!!! All I can say is "WOW"!
I have a little pillow that says, "Blessed are the children of the piecemakers, for they shall inherit the quilts." Are you prepared for that??? *giggle* Better start getting those storage cabinets lined up for those treasures! Thanks for sharing! ---"Love"

Amazing!!! There are so many that I LOVE! Especially the Dear Jane quilt, the little appliqued baskets, the butterflies, and the house quilt. Does she teach dresden plate? It is a wonderful legacy!

I loved seeing all of your mom's quilts...thanks for taking all those photos and posting them. There were a couple of patterns I have in the works...the Hawaiian shirt and the Moda club basket sampler.
