june ufo: math problem

A few weekends ago, I raided my mom's stash to get what I needed for the June UFO...

I made myself a cutting chart because the instructions aren't exactly easy to follow.  (I do mean to get a photo of that...)  And then I chatted while I cut.

I reused some smaller zip bags and made mini kits for each of the three kinds of blocks.  This did make things easier to remember today, so that part of the plan worked.

And it seemed like things were going to be perfect when I finally got started this afternoon.  (After ironing about 400 pieces of clothing...bleh...)

Then I realized I hadn't cut enough background pieces for the first block.  Okay, I have that, no big deal.

On to the second block...hmmm...why does that stack of green pieces seem much smaller than the stack of background that the green pieces get sewn to?  Uh oh...I didn't cut enough and I don't have more of that here...

Move on to the third block before calling mom and once again, not enough background.

What is going on?

Don't do math while you're chatting, that's what was going on.

My mom is going to send the extra greens, but this is how far I got before having to run to the store to buy more pancake mix because mine was breeding moths and I wanted blueberries in my pancakes for dinner.  Yuck.

6 small stars: done
6 large stars: started
6 churn dash: started, waiting on fabric
Panel: cut and ready

Not too bad, but I was really expecting this to go faster.  There's a lot of trimming things down with this pattern, which is good, just takes longer.

I hope to get this top finished yet this week, but we'll see.  Life seems to keep getting in the way, but I've had a lot of fun, so no complaints.

Happy quilting,
Katie

Hmmm---I resemble that post quite often; seems like I'm always short on something! Your little blocks look very nice, and I'm sure you'll have it together soon! ---"Love"

Oh dear, that was a trial but at least you are making good progress. In some countries moths are considered a delicacy! ann :-)

I can't wait to see what it is going to look like! You can't go wrong with those stars and churn dashes. How were the pancakes?

That quilt looks rather complicated, judging by the photo. I would have broken it down and only made one type of block at a time. Just sayin'! But I agree, math and chatting just don't mix, LOL!

What...no protein in your pancakes? That's half the flavor;) Yuck!! ;)

Happy Quilting!!

Looks a wee bit complicated. I try to avoid math (LOL) but I leally need to concentrate while calculating.
