Can you believe that today is the last day of May?
It definitely doesn't seem like it was 5 months ago I was making my UFO list, preparing for another year of challenging myself to get some projects done!
But here we are - another month of Judy's UFO Challenge coming to an end and though my project isn't finished, I made a significant amount of progress!
(And progress was the name of the game this year. For me, at least.)
I started here:
I had worked just one day when I realized my original photo of this wasn't so great. I claimed there was a cat in there, but can any of you find it?
(Oh, wait, that sounds like I did all of this in one day...no, not the case at all. I'd worked a lot on it a while back, but made a mistake that would require a lot of unsewing and I couldn't get past the mistake and just roll with it, so it got set aside. So what you see here is just a teensy bit more done than at the start of the month - not the whole thing! Getting it out again, I decided to roll with it. I may have to do some fudging at the edges when I get there (my mistake put me one stitch off), but I'll figure it out.)
I worked a LOT on this during the month, but almost every square in there has at least a half-cross stitch, so a lot of stitching doesn't go very far. Last weekend, I kinda threw in the towel for getting it finished and worked on a charity quilt. I was sick of not quilting! But decided I at least wanted the CAT finished.
I made it!
Can you see the cat now? You bet! There is still a LOT of stitching that needs to go into this to finish it, but this is definite progress!
I hope to work on this here and there throughout the rest of the year, but we'll see...
And early this morning, Judy already chose the number for the June challenge.

What is that, you ask?
A panel and a free pattern to use the panel I picked up at a quilt shop between St. Louis and Kansas City a few years back. I'm debating whether to find fabrics that will work (because the ones that are listed in the free pattern are probably no longer available) or give it away to someone who will use it...hmmm...
I think I'll sleep on that and see how it sounds in the morning.

There's a lot of stitching in that cat! He's awfully cute though, so worth the trouble :)
Love your cross stitched cat! I enjoy cross stitching too, so I know how long it takes! Keep plugging along! The panel looks interesting and shouldn't be too hard. Good luck with that! I am quilting a UFO quilt now - just finished all the blocks, so just need to figure out what to do for the border strips.
Fudge the stitch, nobody will even notice! Now you know why I don't like needlepoint (at least I think that's one of the reasons), LOL! That piece will be awesome when completed. Just keep stitchin'!

Are you playing tricks on me? I thought I was seeing the cat pretty well back on May 19! Anyway, you are making much more progress than I am --- on anything! I better have a finish by bedtime tonight on a baby quilt! ---"Love"
You have made great progress on your cross stitch! Even though you didn't finish all of it, it is great. Now, keep it out by your chair to pick up when you have a few free minutes. If you do even five or ten minutes every once in a while, it will be progress and you will have it finished before you know it. That panel for your next months UFO challenge looks familiar. I wonder if I have that in my stash somewhere, hmmmmm . . . You probably won't find the exact fabrics to finish it but you can try to match them with what is available now. Play with it and see what you can do. It would be fun to take it to the quilt shop and just see what fabrics you could use to finish the project. Have fun!
That was a lot of stitching to finish the cat. And it looks great. You made progress so that is a success.

Great progress! I used to do a lot of cross stitch - but have lost my patience and my eyesight as I have gotten older!
