mother nature, we are not amused

I took this yesterday morning right before I left for work.

Yesterday.  April 18th.

(Kinda cool, though, how I caught the snow falling.)

I was going to show it yesterday, but the chaos that is my life didn't allow time.

One part of the chaos resulted in these beauties:

Springy cupcakes!

Those petals are sliced marshmallows dipped in colored sugar.  I stole this from a local grocery ad flyer...they provided the recipe for the cupcakes (which I didn't use), not the decorations...but I winged it.  Mine don't look nearly as polished as theirs, but I bet mine taste better!

And I learned that you can make your own colored sugar...a few heaping tablespoons of sugar into a little zipper bag and a drop of food coloring and some smooshing and poof!  Colored sugar!

Happy quilting,
Katie

Those look yummy! Are you going to explain how you did the marshmallows with colored sugar?

Seems weather everywhere is all out of whack! I don't think I could deal with snow today either! Here in Texas we are hoping to avoid tornadoes and wildfires! I just heard on the local news the wildfires are within 70 miles of Fort Worth, with no letup in sight! So many homes and businesses have already burned to the ground! So sad!! ---"Love"

Those cupcakes look so good! I think you did a great job with the decorations.
We had that same scene here yesterday. I am happy that the snow melted by the end of the day but yuck!!!

Such cute cupcakes! I bet they taste good too. How cool (pardon the pun) to capture the snow like that. I'm guessing it's not supposed to be snowing where you are at this time of year? Ann :-)

Poor Katie! Mother Nature is surely in a tizzy this Spring. If it wasn't for the Gulf Stream, we would be buried under snow, too! It's been raining almost every other day here! Good for the garden but I am so tired of getting wet when I leave the house.

Love the cupcakes;) I would have never thought to color my own sugar....it would be better than buying more than one might need;)
Weather here.....warm, sunny, dry. But we could really use some moisture. I am dreading fire season.
Happy Quilting!!

Those cupcakes look too pretty to eat! I love the snowy picture, and it would be perfect if you had taken it in mid December, not mid April.
No one around here even bothers to make snow jokes anymore. It is way past being funny. Happy Easter.
