and so it begins...

I ran to a quilt shop yesterday and stopped at JoAnn's tonight and put in an order with Fat Quarter Shop to be as prepared as I can be for my week of sewing...

Some snaps for a wallet for myself.  (This will be a new adventure - I've never done snaps before, but I have the hammer the picture-directions tell me I need!)

One zipper and some vinyl (hiding in there) to try out a keychain wallet as a possible niece Christmas present.  (I think this will replace the hats and mittens.)

Another zipper to try the Itty Bitty Bag.  If it goes well, it will be paired with the keychain wallet.

I'm scared of those zippers, though.  Never done those before either.

Some extra needles for my sewing machine because, as a blogger I've long lost track of by now said, you don't want to be halfway through a project with a broken needle!  Same goes for the thread and BOGO (free) is hard to pass up.

Some Origins fabric and some solids to go with the charm pack I won.  To make the Crossing Paths quilt.  I'm going to modify the pattern just a touch to work with charm pack, but since I had only one, Fat Quarter Shop got my business this time around - I expect it early next week!  (I know it's shipped already!)

Another cut of off-white solid to work on my version of the Basket Case quilt using the jelly roll my mom got me for my birthday.

(Some of those fabrics got kinda buried, but trust me, they're boring and you'll see them soon enough cut up and sewn into projects!)

And all this took just about an hour at JoAnn's (minus the Origins, of course).  I took a number - 99 - and they were on 86!  Good thing I checked early because I roamed around a while finding zippers, snaps and vinyl instead of just standing there, dazed!  The checkout wasn't much better.  Crazy!

I still plan to work on the hubby's quilt (while he's out of town - I don't think I'll be joining him this time).

I plan to have the doggies appliqued by Monday so I can be in the drawing for the fantastic fabric from Amy.  And I plan to work on getting that top together, too.

And last but not least is the Birdies on a Wire quilt that keeps getting pushed further down the line.  I need deadlines if the projects aren't new and exciting...

Some of you may remember the handprint quilt I talked about making a while ago.  Well.  I bought the fabric and planned it all out and got all excited and then things fell apart.  I don't have all the hand tracings I need and it's for the hubby's family so I've asked him for help and, well, sometimes men have different priorities.  :)  I would still like to make it.

So I came home, washed dishes, washed laundry, made cookies (no-bakes for the last football game!) and should have vaccuumed, but I'll get to it.  I'm almost ready to sew, but the kitties seem to want to snuggle and Netflix sent The Blind Side today, so I suppose that's where I'm headed.

Happy quilting!
Katie

sounds like a great evening. I was going to sew at the kitchen table so I could watch cable instead of a movie but apparently it's turned into a "club house" so the girls are playing under it and I am not invited!

I am glad you went to FQS, they are GREAT!!!

I've been soooo resisting hitting the sale at JoAnn's right now. It's been hard;)
Enjoy your movie, and your kitties, and can't wait to see what you create this week;)
Happy Quilting!!

Ugh. I went to JoAnn's yesterday and lightened my wallet. My purchases were not at all exciting though.... I got batting and a couple of frames to frame a needlepunch and a cross stitch piece.
Can't wait to see what you crank out during your sew week. Sorry you aren't coming to Chi town this time.

Those lightning visits to the store often yield the best goodies. You are definitely a gal on a mission. Enjoy your movie! Ann :-)

I just thought I was tired, until I read your blog! Now I know I am, and certainly you will be too if you get all that done! Good Luck! ---"Love"

Wow, quite a lot. Anyhoo, if you need help with the zipper insertions, let me know. I know several very easy ways to insert zippers and would be more than happy to help you out!

Looks like you have a great plan and some nice projects to work on. There are some nice gifts there. I went to JoAnn's yesterday, too. I came home with 2 bags of batting, 2 spools of thread, and everything I need to make a new ironing board cover. The fabric has owls on it! Don't sweat the zippers, they are way easier than you might think.

You'll be busy. By the look of things you'll be making good use of your week off, and it won't be by doing the vacuuming either! Have fun. I'll keep checking back for progress reports. The keychain wallet sounds intriguing, let me know how finicky that is.
