twin quilts, fruit pizza, new pattern and a saxophone

This should probably be more than one post, so hang in there...

First up: twin quilts.

They're done except hand-sewing binding.  But since it's something like 204 degrees here, I'm NOT going to be working on that today!  I'm hoping for some cooler weather here soon.

I quilted the bluer one today and made and put bindings on both as well.  It feels good to be this close to done with two off my list!  (I just wish I could get a good picture where the colors look better...these fabrics are giving me a headache with that.)

Next up: fruit pizza.

We're going to my hubby's brother's for dinner tonight.  I can bake like noone's business (let me toot my own horn a little!), so the family always asks for desserts from us.  Fruit pizza is a much loved, rarely made treat.

I thought about putting the recipe here, but maybe not today.  If anyone is interested, I will post it.  I love making this in the summer (but everyone always asks for it in the dead of winter when blueberries are $1 and raspberries $2 for each berry......) because it gives me an excuse to buy just about everything in the produce section...bananas, kiwis, grapes, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries today!  And I get to eat all the odd parts and leftovers.

Then: a new pattern.

I have never been so compelled in all my life to buy something RIGHT NOW!

You can order your own here.  I wish I could draw like this, but my stuff always ends up looking like a blob with sticks.

And last: a saxophone.

My niece (holy cow she turned 12 this week!) wants to play alto saxophone in band this year.  She wanted to last year, but their school makes everyone start on clarinet.  (Well, not everyone, the trumpets get to start on trumpet, and flutes on flute, but you know what I mean.)

So I loaned her this.  I played flute and piccolo all through school (even in college a few semesters!), but my band director said "there's no flutes in jazz band" and I was so sad.  I argued, but he stuck to his guns so I bought myself an alto sax.  Plan B.  I thought I'd learn it and then get in the jazz band.  Boy was I wrong!  I think my niece was already better than I am just a few short hours after getting it!  Ah well, at least it's going to get some good use!

And now if you'll excuse me, there's half a banana, a book and a few kitties waiting for my attention.

Happy quilting,
Katie

The peek at your twin quilts hint at very sweet quilts. I have trouble getting fabric colours to come out right too...if ever you figure out a solution please share!

Your fruit pizza looks fresh and cool and scrumptious. I'll take the recipe if you decide to share it!

That pizza looks amazing. Your twin quilts look yummy too. I have color trouble when taking photos too, maybe someone has the answer to that problem/question.
I am going togo look at that little embroidery pattern,it looks so cute.
My youngest sister played the alto sax. She marched in the Rose Bowl parade one year. I, sadly, am musically challenged.
